The Windlass
Our History

The Windlass Restaurant was established in 1963 by the late Ralph Spinelli, Sr., his wife, Amelia, and Ralph Jr., their son.

Ralph Jr. has taken over the helm and, along with his wife Rina and his mom, is carrying on the tradition of serving quality food at reasonable prices.

In the early sixties the main attraction at Nolan's Point on Lake Hopatcong, was the prominent Chris Craft dealership known as Lakeland Marine Base.

To satisfy pangs of thirst or hunger visitors went next door to a rough and rustic lakeside tavern which had just been taken over by the Spinelli family.  It became a haven for fisherman and boaters and before long became known as well as the place to bring the family for complete spaghetti dinners to a family.  The little shot and beer place became the area of choice, waterfront restaurant and marina.  The Windlass continues as the pivot point for every level of society at the lake.
